New ULP Charge, Progress, Concerns, clock ticking, February 1, 2022

Your Union filed and additional ULP charge against Smith’s this afternoon for removing and hiding the Union bulletin board.  We have additional charges that will also be filed soon.  The parties agreed on a few tentative agreements today. Of a big concern to all members is the work hours, Health Fund, and Pension Fund that would be affected by gig workers (outside independent contractors) Smith’s is proposing to do your work.  Not only is work hours affected, but this lowers money your Health Fund and Pension Fund receive to pay your benefits and retirement.  Gig Workers take away from money going to your Health and Pension funds, because Smith’s is not required to pay on their work hours.   The parties are set to meet on Wednesday, as the ULP Strike Vote is taking place on Friday, February 4, 2022, and Saturday, February 5, 2022.
